Import and export tools help you reuse entry schemas instead of rebuilding the same field structure by hand. This is useful when several tags should collect similar entries.

Exporting creates a JSON copy of a schema. Importing brings a compatible schema structure into a draft so you can review, adjust, save, and publish it.

Before you start

• You need to be signed in as the owner of the tag.
• To export, the tag needs an active schema or a saved schema draft.
• To import, you need a compatible schema file or schema payload.
• Importing is safest when the current draft is empty, because the imported structure becomes the draft you review next.

Export a schema

1. 1 Open the tag from your dashboard or My Tags page.
2. 2 Open the Entries area and go to the Schema page.
3. 3 Choose Export Schema when an active schema or draft schema is available.
4. 4 Save the downloaded JSON file somewhere safe if you want to back it up or reuse it later.

Import a schema

1. 1 Open the tag that should receive the schema.
2. 2 Open the Entries area and go to the Schema page.
3. 3 Choose Import Schema and select the compatible schema source.
4. 4 Review the imported fields, field types, required settings, overview visibility, and layout.
5. 5 Adjust labels, keys, field settings, and layout if the imported schema does not perfectly match this tag.
6. 6 Save the imported structure as a schema draft.
7. 7 Publish the draft only when you are ready for new entries on this tag to use the imported schema.

Tips

• Export a schema before making large changes if you want a backup of the previous structure.
• Use exported schemas when several tags should use the same kind of entry form.
• Always review imported schemas before publishing, especially required fields and fields shown in overview.
• Check desktop, tablet, and phone layouts after import because another tag’s layout may not fit perfectly.

What happens next

• An exported schema can be stored as a backup or reused for another compatible tag.
• An imported schema becomes a draft first, so you can review and change it before publishing.
• After publishing, new entries use the imported schema structure.
• Existing entries remain connected to the schema version they were created with.
