Guides

Configure access settings

Control what public visitors, signed-in users, and the owner can do with a Zwyn Tag.

Access settings control who can view the profile, create entries, view entries, edit entries, or delete entries. Zwyn uses a permission matrix so each audience can have its own permissions.

Before you start

  • You need to be signed in as the owner of the tag.
  • The tag needs to be claimed and visible in your dashboard or My Tags page.
  • Decide what visitors should be allowed to do before changing public permissions.
  • If the tag uses entries, decide who should create, view, edit, or delete them.

Try the permission matrix

Use the demo to understand how public visitors, signed-in users, and owners receive different permissions before changing a real tag.

Permission matrix example

Change the example settings to see how audiences and permissions work together.

Permission matrix

Choose the minimum audience allowed to perform each action. More trusted audiences automatically inherit the permission.

View profile

Who can open and view the public-facing tag profile.

Create entries

Who can add new entries to this tag.

View entries

Who can see entries connected to this tag.

Edit entries

Who can edit entries. Public editing is disabled in the simple editor.

Delete entries

Who can delete entries. Public deleting is disabled in the simple editor.

Signed-in users can only delete their entries if they are also allowed to edit their entries.

Owner permissions are always kept enabled. Public users cannot edit or delete entries in the simple access editor.

Steps

  1. 1 Open the tag from your dashboard or My Tags page.
  2. 2 Open the Access page from the tag navigation or tag overview.
  3. 3 Review the current permission matrix before changing anything.
  4. 4 Set who can view the public-facing profile.
  5. 5 Set who can create entries, view entries, edit entries, or delete entries.
  6. 6 Check the access summary to confirm that the page has detected your unsaved changes.
  7. 7 Save the access settings when the permission matrix matches what you want.

Audience rules

  • Public visitors are people who open the tag without signing in.
  • Signed-in users are logged-in Zwyn users who are not the owner of the tag.
  • The owner is the account that claimed and manages the tag.
  • Public permissions also apply to signed-in users. If public visitors may do something, signed-in non-owner users may also do it.
  • Owner permissions still take priority for the tag owner.

Common setups

  • Public profile only: allow public visitors to view the profile, but keep entry actions restricted.
  • Public logbook: allow public visitors to create entries, but limit editing or deleting to their own entries or to the owner.
  • Signed-in collaboration: allow logged-in users to create or view entries while keeping management actions owner-only.
  • Owner-only: keep profile visibility and entry actions limited to the owner.

What happens next

  • After saving, the tag uses the updated permission matrix.
  • Visitors only see or use the actions allowed by the saved access settings.
  • You can return to the Access page later to adjust permissions again.

Be careful with public access

Public permissions apply without signing in. Only enable public actions when anyone with the tag link should really be allowed to use them.
